Best Time To Visit Chardham Yatra
One of the most asked questions by devotees is: When should I go? What is the best time for the Yatra?
Well, as we mentioned, the Yatra starts on April 19, 2026. So you have to plan this tour accordingly.
Here is a simple guide to help you:
April & June (Peak Season)
- This could be the busiest and peak rush time for the Darshans. It is when thousands of people will visit for Darshans.
- Although the vibe during this season is full of spiritual energy, you have to be ready for heavy crowds and long queues at the temples.
- Easy for pilgrims to walk or trek
- The weather is warm and sunny during the daytime, and nights are freezing
- Start your day early to avoid traffic jams on the mountain roads.
July to August (Best To Avoid)
- This is the monsoon season, and the Chardham receives heavy rainfall.
- The roads are slippery and could be prone to landslides, making it very difficult for pilgrims (especially senior citizens and children) to travel.
- Therefore, it is better to avoid going for the Chardham Yatra during the monsoon season.
September to October (The Golden Window)
- This can be the best time to visit the Char Dham. After the monsoon season, the weather improves, moderate during the day, and a bit cool at night.
- You’ll get to experience snow showers as well, especially at the higher peaks of Kedarnath.
- Probably the Best Time for Seniors because the rush is low, and the weather is stable.
Our Recommendation
If you want to experience a comfortable Chardham Yatra in 2026, with suitable weather conditions and easy Darshans, then there are two best times:
- Late April to June: Best for the spiritual vibes with suitable weather conditions, crisp air, and peaceful sights.
- September to October: Fewer tourists, cool and comfortable weather, clear skies, allowing you for a great experience of the darshans.

Crowd Prediction Analysis
The above graph shows the average crowd prediction coming for the Char Dham Yatra in recent years. So, to make it easy for yourself, you can take an idea about what could be the best time to plan your journey in 2026.
- April to June: Peak time for the Yatra. Expect a huge crowd, long waiting times, and high prices for accommodations. Talking about the positives, you’ll get to see pleasant weather and a vibrant, festive atmosphere at the temples.
- July to September: There could be a drop in the crowd because of the rainy season. It is suggested to avoid this time as the roads are likely to be slippery and often closed due to landslides.
- October to November: A good time for the Yatra, as the crowd is relatively low, and the weather gets better after the monsoon. The weather is perfect, the skies are clear, and you can easily manage even if there is a crowd.
