Best Time for Char Dham Yatra
The best time for Char Dham Yatra from Hyderabad is May to June and mid-September to October.
Summer - May to June
Peak season. Temples are open, roads are clear, and weather is pleasant at altitude. Crowds are at their highest during this window - Kedarnath and Badrinath queues run 4 to 6 hours during May. Book at least 6 to 8 weeks in advance for summer dates.
Monsoon - July to Mid-September
July and August are monsoon months - heavy rain, frequent landslides, road closures. Helicopter operations are often suspended. Travelling during this period is possible but not recommended. The second half of September is generally clear.
Autumn - Mid-September to October
One of the best windows for Char Dham Yatra from Hyderabad. Clear skies after monsoon, green landscapes, noticeably shorter Darshan queues, and lower accommodation rates than summer. Mid-September to late October is often preferred by experienced pilgrims specifically to avoid the May-June crowds.
Winter - November to April
All four Char Dham temples close by late October or early November and reopen in April. Temples in 2026 open from 19 April (Yamunotri and Gangotri) and 22-23 April (Kedarnath and Badrinath). No Char Dham Yatra is possible during winter.

Travel Tips for Pilgrims
- Walk 4 to 5 km daily for 2 to 3 weeks before the Yatra to build stamina for the trek sections.
- Consult your doctor before booking if you have asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or any chronic condition.
- Yamunotri and Kedarnath are at 3,293 m and 3,583 m respectively. First-time high-altitude travellers should be aware of altitude sickness symptoms: headache, nausea, dizziness, breathlessness. Tell your guide immediately if these appear.
- Carry cash - ATMs are unavailable at Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri. Badrinath has one ATM that is frequently out of service. Carry Rs. 8,000 to 10,000 in cash per person beyond what the package covers.
- Carry warm clothes even for May-June travel - temperatures at Kedarnath drop to 5°C after sunset.
- Use a Jio or BSNL SIM - other networks have poor coverage at Badrinath and Harsil.
- Register for the Yatra online at registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in before leaving Hyderabad. Can also be done offline at counters in Haridwar, Rishikesh, Sonprayag, and Janki Chatti.

Biometric registration is mandatory for all pilgrims. Do this before leaving Hyderabad:
- Go to registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in on your phone or computer.
- Register with your mobile number and email address.
- Select all four Dhams and enter your approximate Darshan dates.
- Upload your Aadhaar Card photo and fill in personal details.
- Download the e-pass and take a printout. Keep a copy on your phone.
This e-pass is checked at entry points along the entire route. Pilgrims without it may be turned back at certain checkpoints. Do not leave Hyderabad without completing this.

Day 1 :Hyderabad to Delhi (By train/flight)
Today, you will arrive in Delhi from Hyderabad. Once you have reached Delhi, you will be transferred to your pre-reserved hotel, where you will have an overnight stay.
Day 2 :Delhi to Haridwar (Expected Time: 5:00 Hrs. Distance: 220 Km)
Once you have reached New Delhi Railway Station, our representative will meet you. The holy yatra will start once you fill out the necessary forms. Your next stopover will be Haridwar. During the journey, you will have a lunch break at Khatauli. Once you have reached Haridwar, you will be transferred to your hotel. Before dinner, you will attend the short briefing session. Enjoy a lip-smacking dinner, and then you will have an overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 3 :Haridwar to Barkot via Dehradun (Expected Time: 6:30 Hrs. Distance: 200 Km)
You will wake up early in the morning at around 6.00 am as per the Char Dham Yatra itinerary. After savoring a delicious breakfast, you will embark on a hassle-free journey towards Barkot/Jankichatti/Chatti via Dehradun. Once you have reached Barkot, you will check into your pre-booked hotel. You will savour a delicious lunch, and then you will have an overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 4 :Barkot – Yamunotri-Barkot (Expected Time: 1:30 Hrs. Distance: 47 Km)
Today, you will embark on a challenging trek to Yamunotri Temple early in the morning. If you do not want to trek, you can arrange Pony/palki at your own cost. You will have the divine darshan of Maa Yamuna and take a holy dip at Surya Kund and Divya Shila. After the darshan, you will descend to reach the base camp. You’ll then have an overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 5 :Barkot to Uttarkashi (Expected Time: 3:30 Hrs. Distance: 90 Km)
You will savour a mouth-watering breakfast in the morning, and then you will embark on a scenic drive towards Uttarkashi, which is our next pilgrimage stopover. You will drive along Barkot-Dharasu. After reaching Uttarkashi, you will be transferred to your pre-booked hotel, where you can spend the rest of the day. Enjoy a lip-smacking dinner and then have an overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 6 :Uttarkashi- Gangotri- Uttarkashi (Expected Time: 1:30 Hrs. Distance: 24 Km)
Today, you will wake up early in the morning, and then you will start your journey towards the Gangotri shrine as per the Char Dham Yatra itinerary. You’ll enjoy the most picturesque scenery on the way. We will stop by Gangnani at the famous site of 21 hot water springs and the beautiful Harsil Valley. After reaching Gangotri Temple, you will have the blissful darshan of Ganga Maa. You will then head out on the return journey to Uttarkashi. You will be transferred to your hotel, where you will have a tasty dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7 :Uttarkashi to Guptkashi / Phata (Expected Time: 8:30 Hrs. Distance: 230 Km)
Today, you will embark early in the morning on a picturesque drive towards the next stopover. The drive will take you along the Tehri Dam, which is known to be the highest dam in India. You will be transferred to your hotel, where you will have an overnight stay.
Day 8 :Phata-Kedarnath-Phata (16 km Trekking)
Today, you will wake up early in the morning and undertake the 16 km challenging trek from Gaurikund to the Kedarnath shrine. You will embark on treks from Gaurikund with clothing and a packed breakfast. The trek will take around six to seven hours. You can also opt for Pony/palki for assistance. After the Darshan of Shri Kedarnath ji, you will head back to Guptkashi/Phata. Once you have arrived you will have an overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 9 :Phata to Badrinath (Expected Time: 8:30 Hrs. Distance: 228 Km)
Relish a delicious breakfast in the morning, and then you will move towards Badrinath as per the Char Dham Yatra itinerary. If you want, you can have the darshan of Lord Badrinarayan on the same day. If not, you can just unwind and relax at the hotel. You can also opt for darshan early in the morning on the next day.
Day 10 :Badrinath-Srinagar (Expected Time: 3:30 Hrs. Distance: 80 Km)
You can have the darshan of Lord Badrinarayan and attend pooja in the morning. Afterward, you will head to your first stopover on the return journey. You will be transferred to your hotel, where you will have an overnight stay.
Day 11 :Srinagar - Haridwar (Expected Time: 8:15 Hrs. Distance: 240 Km)
Today you will embark on a scenic drive through the terrain of Devbhumi. You will check out from your hotel in the morning. You will stop by Devprayag, which is known to be the confluence of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda Rivers. You will then continue your journey to Haridwar. After reaching Rishikesh you’ll be transferred to your hotel where you will have an overnight stay.
