Before we move ahead, let us know the significance of the four famous temples of the Char Dham Yatra. Each temple has its own spiritual significance and beliefs.
It will be the first destination. Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, this temple is situated in the Garhwal Himalayas and is known to be the starting point of the River Yamuna. It is famous for the hot water springs, where pilgrims can take a holy dip.
The next Dham is Gangotri, where the River Ganga first touched earth. Located along the Bhagirathi River, this temple is known for its peaceful surroundings and spiritual significance.
Situated at a very high altitude (11,755 feet) and surrounded by high peaks of the Himalayas, Kedarnath is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Even though this is the most difficult trek of the Yatra, the eye-catching surroundings and the peaceful atmosphere up there will give the best spiritual experience.
The final stop is Badrinath, which is located along the Alaknanda River. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is believed to be the most important of the four Dhams.

Barkot
Barkot is located alongside the Yamuna River. It is a significant gateway town for devotees en route to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham. On this route, do not forget to take pictures of beautiful Kempty Falls.
Kashi Vishwanath Temple
The temple’s aura is peaceful and is charged with the sound of mantra and ringing bells, filling the devotees with a pleasant feeling.
Guptkashi
Guptkashi holds immense religious significance, offering two renowned temples: The Vishwanath Temple, which is similar to the famous temple in Varanasi, and the Ardhanarishvara temple, which enshrines the feminine and masculine aspects of Parvati and Shiva respectively.
It is considered on par with Varanasi in terms of religious significance, especially because of the connection with the Pandavas of the Mahabharata. The legend has it that Shiva came here with the proposal of marriage to Parvati before their divine marriage at the site of Son Ganga and the River Mandakini at Triyuginarayan village.
Another story narrates that when Aurangzeb destroyed the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and built the Gyanvapi Mosque in 1669, the Shiva Linga was shifted to Guptkashi.

Option 2:
Kedarnath
Kedarnath Dham is located near the head of the Mandakini River in the state of Uttarakhand. It is situated amidst the Himalayas at a high altitude of 3,584 metres above sea level. This is a huge religious point of interest that houses the ancient temple of Lord Shiva, settled amidst the panoramic views of the rhododendron forests and snow-capped mountains.
As per the legend, after the Kurukshetra war, Pandavas went to seek the blessing of Lord Shiva in Banaras. However, to find solitude, Lord Shiva decided to reside in the form of buffalo in Guptkashi. One day, Bhima, one of the Pandavas, came across him and attempted to capture him. To avoid this, Lord Shiva took a dive in the ground and disappeared, leaving behind his hump. Pandavas built a shrine here and it is the present-day Kedarnath Temple.
Kedarnath Weather
Kedarnath has a freezing climate throughout the year, even in summer. Located at a high altitude of over 3,500 metres, Kedarnath has temperatures that range below 20 degrees Celsius. During winter, the temperatures drop even further – making it a very cold, freezing season.

Mana Village
Mana Village is a soothing village with Himalayan mountain ranges in the background and the river flowing by. Do not miss out on Bhim Pul – a natural bridge of stones over Saraswati River. Also, visit Vyas Gufa where Maharishi Ved Vyas composed Mahabharata in presence of Ganesha.
Badrinath Temple
Located on the banks of Alaknanda River, Badrinath is one of the most spiritually significant places in Hinduism that is devoted to Lord Vishnu. Savour the beautiful scenery of the temple site that is surrounded by snowy mountains and lush green hills. Inside the temple, seek Darshan of the black stone idol of Lord Badrinarayan seated in a meditating pose.
Joshimath
A captivating picturesque town in the state of Uttarakhand, Joshimath is surrounded by the Himalayas and is well steeped in history. It is one of the most scenic places where nature lovers can enjoy a mesmerizing view of snow-capped mountains, crystal-clear flowing streams, and green meadows. However, what is exceptional about this place is the Kalpavriksha Tree, which is a divine tree believed to be an actualization of Lord Vishnu.
Rudraprayag
Rudraprayag is situated on the highways of Kedarnath and Badrinath in the Garhwal district of Uttaranchal. This is also the place where Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers join. And just half an hour drive away from this place is the fairly beautiful Chopta Valley which is highly appealing to nature enthusiasts.

During summer, the climate of Rudraprayag is hot, and the maximum & minimum temperatures vary between 35 to 40 degrees Celsius. Days are moderately warm during winter, making this season favourable for touring. Evenings can be cool, with temperatures between 5 and 20 degrees Celsius.

Besides beautiful natural sceneries, one can indulge here in extreme sports such as bungee jumping, mountain bike riding, rafting, and flying fox. It is also a religious focal point with spiritually important attractions like Triveni Ghat and Neelkanth Mahadev Temple.
